Tomato is a superfood! It’s packed full of antioxidants including Betacarotene, Vitamin E and Vitamin C. Tomatoes are also known to have high amounts of Lycopene which is considered a potential agent for prevention of various types of cancer.
Oats are full of vitamins and minerals, protein, good fats and fibre. Most personal trainers that I know advocate that oats are fundamental for a healthy and nutritious diet. Oats are also considered healthy as they are known to reduce blood pressure and help ease the harmful effects of bad cholesterol. I recommend purchasing natural rolled oats and cooking them in the microwave or just adding boiling water. Try avoiding the quick oats sachets as they are loaded with sugar and preservatives. Blueberries are also a superfood. They are loaded with anti-oxidants, phyto-flavonoids and Vitamin C. Studies show that blueberries may help lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, help with short term memory loss and act as an anti-inflammatory. Although sometimes hard to find fresh, blueberries can also be purchased frozen and still retain taste incredibly awesome. Go for the darker colored blueberries as they contain more anti-oxidants.
Oranges are famously known for their Vitamin C. However, oranges are also beneficial as they contain many phytochemicals (chemicals know to reduce the risk of breast cancer), reduce heart disease and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Oranges are also known for assisting with blood pressure and containing high amounts of potassium. Yoghurt is a great food to incorporate into a diet as it is rich in protein, making it a filling snack. Yoghurt has a probiotics (good bacteria) which are required to maintain a our digestive tract. Always go for the low-fat yoghurt with active cultures such as acidophilus and again, avoid any yoghurt which is high in sugar.
